About Me

Kelly-Anne

BACP REGISTERED COUNSELLOR

Hello, I warmly welcome you to my profile.
I am passionate in my role as a Psychotherapist, as it enables me to work and connect with a rich diversity of people. I enjoy listening, supporting and finding ways to understand and work with challenges.
My working life has always been in roles with a desire to help others, from Teaching( 25 years +), running my own Drama School for children with Disabilities , Home Tutoring to Counselling. As well as my role outside of Counselling as a Parent to a teen and an adult son.
I have encountered my own struggles, having experienced anxiety, low mood and feeling like I'd never escape from it.  But after seeking Counselling  I was able to see things differently and recognise how to work with the anxiety and low mood, managing it more effectively.
I believe having experienced this myself, I have a good understanding around this subject, a large 'toolbox' of strategies and can recognise what can help or hinder. I also believe that experiencing challenging times can help create resilience, strength, courage, autonomy and enhancing self-awareness.
As well as my counselling experience of working with anxiety and low mood, I also have a depth of experience and specialism in other areas, such as Autism/ADHD having raised an autistic son- now an adult and working in this area for 20+ years.  I am also diagnosed with ADHD with traits of Autism, so can relate to many of the challenges this sometimes brings.
Having worked with Children and Adults all of my life, my training and experience as a Counsellor and own life experiences, I have a depth of insight into the diversity and needs of each individual and working with each person in a holistic sense. I see you as an individual and unique and will work with you to help you become your true authentic self. It may be in therapy, that we firstly need to explore and discover what that is and what that looks like.
Ultimately, I want Counselling to be an experience that you can be yourself, feel accepted, feel listened to and valued as the unique person you are. I want to help you find a way to manage your life, deal with the challenges that life brings and be able to use the strategies going forward once you finish therapy.
On my days outside of Counselling I enjoy time with my family, performing in plays and musicals, National Trust visits, swimming in pools and the sea, walks in the woods and travelling.
