Walk and Talk Therapy
Therapy outside has lots of benefits, both to the process of counselling and for general health and well-being, as well as offering opportunities for grounding work, mindfulness, meditation and creative therapy.
An added advantage, being more opportunity for exercise and fresh air which has been proven to help with mental health. For some people, sitting in a Counselling room might feel uncomfortable, so this approach can allow for more comfort and help a person feel more relaxed.
We will discuss a route with weather, time and health in mind. Walking routes will be at Nature Reserves locally or a local beach.
We will walk, pause, sit on a bench, look at the view and engage with the environment to suit your mood and at your pace. There may be some opportunity for creative work, using the outside resources. We will also have another plan in place such as online/text/telephone therapy, in case of heavy rain or if you simply don't want to do Therapy outside that day. A risk assessment will always be made, considering the route and all safety measures will be taken into consideration.
